The world’s leading horticultural charity, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has chosen Microsoft Business Solutions partner, K3 to overhaul its financial and retail management systems, by implementing its software across the business.
RHS selected K3 because of its knowledge, understanding and proven expertise in the retail market. K3 has many clients in the horticultural sector including, Webbs, Dobbies, Hayes Gardenworld, Van Hage, Peter Barretts and Byrkley Park garden centres.
RHS is deploying the entire Microsoft Business Solutions Navision solution suite, from Financials through to EPOS, Mail Order, and Merchandising. Due to the limitations of its existing system, the RHS chose Microsoft Navision, which is fully integrated, with excellent functionality and easy to use.
For the initial roll out there will be 200 users, including five tills per site and one mobile store. The proceeds from the RHS’s shops and plant centres help to supplement income from membership, donations, flower shows and garden operations. Accordingly it is important for the RHS that the system will help manage sales margins better on the retail activity and make the financial reports clear and easy to produce, using the Dimensions and Analysis functionality.
Sarah Buxton, the RHS’s Director of Finance said that the reason for selecting K3 was because of strong customer references, a good track record and, in her words, they were "best in breed". She commented, "I am pleased that K3 understood our language and had so much experience in developing a retail management system that specifically addresses the issues commonly faced in our sector."
K3 Limited specialises in the implementation and application of business management software, primarily the Microsoft Business Solution, formerly Navision, suite of business management applications. Navision was acquired by Microsoft Corporation in May 2002, and represents a key part of its enterprise technology solutions strategy, moving into the SME market developing a broader base of applications working within their .NET architecture.
K3 is the major provider of the award winning Microsoft Business Solution throughout the UK, Ireland, The Middle East (Lebanon and the UAE) and Singapore, covering business sectors including Financials, Education, Retail, Manufacturing, Warehousing/Distribution, with the ability to harness the World Wide Web. Through the Landsteinar Group and the company’s international network of consultants, the company services over 134 clients worldwide from 7 offices.
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), founded in 1804, is the world’s leading horticultural charity.
The RHS has 600 full time employees and 600 volunteers over seven sites. As a charity working to advance horticulture and promote good gardening, the RHS receives no government grants and relies on donor and sponsorship support to supplement income from its, garden operations, flower shows, shops and plant centres and membership, which now stands at 340,000.
The Society is probably best known for organising the Chelsea Flower Show, along with the Hampton Court Palace and Tatton Park shows, and for its renowned gardens at Wisley in Surrey, Rosemoor in Devon, Hyde Hall in Essex and Harlow Carr in North Yorkshire.
