K3 raises the bar at Caledonian Brewing

Didcot, 17th May 2007 – Caledonian Brewing Company Limited (CBCL) has chosen a fully integrated financial, production and customer relationship management solution from K3, the UK’s largest provider of Microsoft Dynamics. The new solution will provide CBCL with better financial control and full stock visibility across all of its routes to market.

CBCL is replacing its existing Alphameric “Brewmaster” system and many other associated spreadsheets with K3’s beverage solution called “Drink-it”.

Drink-it will enable CBCL to run a complex business that embraces third party distributors, telesales, excise duty, discounts and promotions. In addition, CBCL will use Dynamics CRM to enable it to access customer information such as visit reports, marketing activity, indirect sales and competitor data, and provide this to the telesales staff and to the business development managers via PDAs.

Phase one will be implemented by the end of September 2007. The second phase will include the full Drink-it production ordering system with integrated quality assurance, again fully integrated into the financial and stock side of the business. This is planned for implementation before the major Christmas brewing period.

The complexity of the different “routes to market” requires interfaces into other systems used by CBCL’s third party distributors. The interface will be provided using an interface product called “Spectrum 3” from Freeway Commerce. This allows output from and input to Drink-it to be converted to whatever format is required by the third parties.

He added, “This is a substantial capital investment for CBCL in line with our investment in the business which now brews and supplies 125,000 barrels per annum”.
